About

NOC Bangladesh named Bangladesh Olympic Association established National Olympic Academy on the 118th anniversary of the Olympic Movement, 23rd June 2012 according to article 5 (ii) of its statutes and as per provision of Rule 2.1 of the Olympic Charter. Since establishment NOA has been working as an organizational unit of BOA under its supervision and financial assistance. BOA in its Executive Committee Meeting 1/2019 held on 15th January, 2019 approved the Statutes and logo of NOA.

Vision

The vision of NOA Bangladesh shall be to make sincere efforts within it's operational jurisdiction to follow in letter and spirit the fundamental principles of Olympism stated in the Olympic Charter. It shall strive to put into practice Agenda 20 + 20, the roadmap of the Olympic Movement and to work with BOA to spread Olympic Education and promote Olympic Movement in Bangladesh.

Mission & Objectives

  1. The Academy shall make all out efforts to promote Olympic ideals and Core Olympic Values with special emphasis on the Youths who are one of the three basic elements of Agenda 20+20 of the Olympic Movement (Now Agenda 20:20+5).
  2. To Cooperate with BOA in strengthening Olympic Movement throughout Bangladesh.
  3. To take measures with the assistance of BOA to create awareness among athletes and organizers on `Environment', the third pillar of Olympism.
  4. The role of NOA shall include among others, fulfillment of the objectives in respect of;
  5. Olympic Education.
  6. Preservation and documentation of information in respect of Olympic
  7. Movement and Olympics.
  8. Research works.
  9. Publication.
  10. It shall work to sensitize young athletes and organizers in persuit of moral, ethical and educational values of Olympism and on the necessity of clean athleticism.
  11. To assist BOA to uphold women empowerment, gender equalization, inclusion and equity in it's spare of activities.
  12. To create awareness on moral and ethical values of fair play, true spirit of sportsmanship in pursuit of sports along with the NFs affiliated with and recognized by NOC Bangladesh.

Role & Function

With the financial assistance of IOC & BOA Olympic Academy shall perform the following functions namely:-

  1. Organize a Library.
  2. Organize an Archive.
  3. Organize a Museum.
  4. Train Sports Administrators.
  5. Organize Seminar, Workshop on matters of Olympic interest.
  6. To liaise with International Pierre de Coubertin Committee.
  7. Publication of Annual Report on the activities of NOA and submit to IOA.
  8. To take step with the financial assistance of BOA to publish periodical News Letter/Bulletin.
  9. Communicate with different Government and Non-Government Organizations and media to raise awareness among the people especially the youth about the principles of Olympism and seek assistance for development of NOA.
  10. To prepare scheme for the modernization of Library, Archive and Museum of BOA.
  11. To liaise with IOC and OCA and Organize events on Olympic education and other topics of Olympic interest.
  12. To take measures in cooperation with BOA for development of Olympic Education, Culture and Legacy, Sustainability and Legacy, Sport & Active Society with special emphasis on implementation of Agenda 20+20 of Olympic Movement by NOC Bangladesh.
  13. To assist BOA in executing agenda adopted from time to time by IOC, OCA and IOA in respect of Olympic education and other topics of Olympic interest.
  14. To request Bangladesh Sports Institute (Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Pratisthan-BKSP) the apex sports educational institution of Bangladesh to establish Olympic studies center.
  15. To organize cultural events namely painting and essay writing completions on occasions say Olympic Day/Week celebration by BOA. And organize exhibitions on such occasion.
  16. To maintain contact with NOAs and seek assistance at continental/international level.
  17. With the assistance of BOA to take part in International Olympic Education Forums.
  18. To inspire the young athletes to follow medal winners in International Games/Championships as Role Models.
  19. Any other work assigned by BOA, IOA and other organizations recognized by IOC, OCA.
